How does the MeetYou login and registration system work?

1. Introduction

Welcome to our super-secure web service! We use a couple of really cool tools to make sure that only you can access your account - they're called WebAuthn and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

The best part?

You don't need to tell us anything personal about yourself...

Not even an email!

All you need is a username.

2. WebAuthn

Imagine you're a secret agent and you need a special handshake to meet other agents. WebAuthn is kind of like that special handshake for our website. But instead of your hand, you use something like a fingerprint or a security key. This way, we know it's really you and not someone pretending to be you.

Touch ID and FaceID: the same system you use to authenticate in banking applications.

3. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication is like a magic door with two locks. The first lock is your password. The second lock can be a code that only you can see on your device. You need both to open the door and access your account. This makes it much tougher for anyone else to get in.

4. User Registration

Here's how you can create your super-secret account:

1. Click on the 'Sign Up' button: You'll find this on our website.

2. Choose a username: Pick a name that you like. It will be your identity on our website.

3. Create a password: Make sure it's something hard for others to guess but easy for you to remember.

4. Set up WebAuthn: Follow the instructions to provide your fingerprint or use your security key. Remember, it's our special handshake.

5. Set up 2FA: This part is exciting. You'll see a QR code on the screen. Scan it using a 2FA app on your device. The app will give you a code. Enter this code on our website to confirm.

6. Complete the Sign-Up: Click on 'Create Account'. Ta-da! You now have a super-secret account.

5. User Login

Ready to log in? Here's how:

1. Click on the 'Login' button: You'll find this on our website.

2. Enter your username and password: The name you picked and the password you created.

3. WebAuthn check: Do our special handshake by providing your fingerprint or using your security key.

4. 2FA check: Open your 2FA app. It will show a new code. Enter this code on our website.

5. Access granted: Well done, secret agent! You're in!

6. Account Recovery

Lost your device or got a new one? Here's what you can do:

1. Click 'Lost my Device': You'll find this on the login screen.

2. Enter your username: We'll check if it's the same one we have in our records.

3. Verify your identity: This is an important step where you'll have to provide your fingerprint or use your security key, our special handshake.

4. Set up your new device: Scan the QR code we show you with your 2FA app on your new device.

5. Access restored: You're all set! You've now set up your new device with your super-secret account.
